چکیده

In [25] van Benthem proposes a dynamic consequence relation defined as ψ1, . . . , ψn |= φ iff |= [ψ1]...[ψn]φ, where the latter denotes consequence in public announcement logic, a dynamic epistemic logic. In this paper we investigate the structural properties of a conditional dynamic consequence relation |=Γ extending van Benthem’s proposal. It takes into account a set of background conditions Γ, inspired by [18] wherein Makinson calls this reasoning ‘modulo’ a set Γ. In the presence of common knowledge, conditional dynamic consequence is definable from (unconditional) dynamic consequence. An open question is whether dynamic consequence is compact. We further investigate a dynamic consequence relation for soft instead of hard announcements. Surprisingly, it shares many properties with (hard) dynamic consequence. Dynamic consequence relations provide a novel perspective on reasoning about protocols in multi-agent systems.

A Logic for Global and Local Announcements

In this paper we introduce global and local announcement logic (GLAL), a dynamic epistemic logic with two distinct announcement operators – [φ ]A and [φ ] − A indexed to a subset A of the set Ag of all agents – for global and local announcements respectively. The boundary case [φ ]Ag corresponds to the public announcement of φ , as known from the literature. Unlike standard public announcements...

Bilattice Public Announcement Logic

Building on recent work on bilattice modal logic and extensions of public announcement logic to a non-classical setting, we introduce a dynamic epistemic logic having the logic of modal bilattices as propositional support. Bilattice logic is both inconsistency-tolerant and paracomplete, thus suited for applications in contexts with multiple sources of information, where one may have to deal wit...

Public Announcement Logics with Constrained Protocols

Public announcement logic (PAL) is a paradigm case of dynamic epistemic logic, which models how agents’ epistemic states change when pieces of information are communicated publicly. PAL extends epistemic logic with the operator [A], where the intended reading of [A]φ is “After a public announcement that A, φ holds.” This logic has recently received two improvements. One improvement, studied in ...

Dynamic vs. Classical Consequence

The shift of interest in logic from just reasoning to all forms of information flow has considerably widened the scope of the discipline, as amply illustrated in Johan van Benthem’s recent book Logical Dynamics of Information and Interaction. But how much does this change when it comes to the study of traditional logical notions such as logical consequence? We propose a systematic comparison be...

'Knowable' as 'known after an announcement'

Public announcement logic is an extension of multi-agent epistemic logic with dynamic operators to model the informational consequences of announcements to the entire group of agents. We propose an extension of public announcement logic with a dynamic modal operator that expresses what is true after any announcement: ♦φ expresses that there is a truthful announcement ψ after which φ is true. Th...
